William Yeo Edwards (1807–1880) was born at Ilfracombe to parents John Edwards and Susannah Yeo.
William ran a tugboat and paddle-steamer that operated in the Bristol Channel. He married Maria Gilbert at Pilton in 1832; they had seven children, including:
– Frederick Edwards (see below).
Maria died in 1861; William re-married in 1865 and had two sons with his second wife Clementia Barker, including:
– William Yeo Edwards (1866–1890).
Frederick Edwards (1847–1901, son of William Yeo Edwards and Maria Gilbert) married Maria Elizabeth Courtis. They had three children, including:
– Lionel Edwards (1876–1944, married wife Florence Winifred Howard) [note 1].
