The 1921 census for Swindon records Abraham G. Yeo at 61 Redcliffe Street. He is a 66-year-old widower born at nearby Brinkworth and is working as a platelayer for the Great Western Railway Company. Also in the household are his 26-year-old daughter-in-law Ethel M. Yeo with her children Thomas E.T. Yeo (age 2) and William G. Yeo (age 1), and Abraham’s son John H. Yeo, an unmarried 22-year-old boilermaker’s apprentice also working for the Great Western Railway Company.
Abraham George Yeo appears to have been known as George [note 1]. He married Emma Elizabeth Scourfield at Bridgend in 1887. Emma died in 1910, having given birth to six children between 1888 and 1899:

– Alice Mary Yeo (1890–1949, married James Wyatt in 1917)
– Theophilus William Yeo (see below)
– Hilda Fanny Yeo (1893–1984, married Ernest William Smith in 1919)
– Thomas David Yeo (1896–1916, died in Iraq while serving with the Wiltshire Regiment – see War deaths)
– John Herbert Yeo (1899–1974, married Ethel May Montague in 1921).
The 1901 census records the family at Rodborne Cheny, near Swindon, where the two youngest children were born. Abraham George Yeo – recorded as George Yeo – is a 46-year-old railway platelayer, his wife Emma is 37 and their children Alice M. (age 11), Theophilus (9), Hilda (7), Thomas D. (4) and John H. (1) are also listed.
Theophilus William Yeo (1891–1924, son of Abraham George Yeo and Emma Elizabeth Scourfield) married Ethel May Carpenter in 1918. They had three children:
– Thomas Ernest Theophilus Yeo (1918–2007, married Queenie Emily Eleanor Ponting in 1945, two children)
– William George Yeo (1920–2010, married Louisa Mary Stratford in 1941)
– Hilda Elizabeth Yeo (1923–1987).
