William Yaw of the Royal Field Artillery

William was born at Bampton in 1889 and had moved with his parents John Yaw and Susan Ridgway to south Wales before marrying Catherine Evans in 1909. They had a son William Idris Yaw (1910–1915).

William joined the army and became a driver with the Royal Field Artillery [note 1]. He died of wounds in France on 21 October 1916 and was buried at the military cemetery at Meaulte in the Somme region.
