James Yeo and Elizabeth Smith

This couple married in the north Devon parish of Marwood in 1827; they were both from Marwood and banns had been read there. They baptised four children at Marwood, of whom their son James Yeo married Betsy Laramy and had ten children. Of these children, Alfred Yeo (1862–1934), married Louisa Jackson and had six children, following which he – and perhaps all his family too, emigrated to Australia. Alfred Yeo died in New South Wales in 1934.

James senior might be the James Yeo baptised at nearby Atherington in 1799 to parents James Yeo and Elizabeth Punchard, but the evidence is not conclusive.
