Sheila Yeo drafted a pedigree in 2002 showing that Richard Yeo (c1811–1899) [note 1] married twice.
Richard first married Jane Marshall [note 2] at the parish church of St Petroc, Bodmin in 1837. Fourteen years later, the 1851 census for Bodmin records Richard as a 39-year-old horse keeper; listed with him are his 33-year-old wife Jane and his children John P. Yeo (age 12), Elizabeth A. Yeo (7) and Richard Yeo (5). There were eventually nine children from Richard and Jane’s marriage:

– William Yeo (1840–1842)
– Elizabeth Ann Yeo (1843–1861)
– Richard Palmer Yeo (see below)
– Mary Jane Yeo (1847–1850)
– William Henry Yeo (see below)
– Thomas Yeo (see below)
– George Yeo (1856–1857)
– Charley Yeo (see below).
Jane died in 1859. Richard re-married in 1865 and had two sons with his second wife Elizabeth Billing Hoskin:
– Harry Yeo (1866–1871)
– George Yeo (1870–1871).
John Palmer Yeo (1838–1905, son of Richard Yeo and Jane Marshall) married Mary Ann Hambly. They lived at Bodmin, where they had five children [note 3]:
– Henry Yeo
– Nancy Ann Yeo (1861–1919, married Thomas Mynard) [note 4]
– John Palmer Yeo (1863–1864)
– Richard Yeo (1864–1932, married Mary Semmons, nine children)
– Hannah Jane Yeo (born 1865) [note 5]
before moving to Illogan, where they had eight further children [note 3]:
– Jessie Yeo (1867–1887)
– Bessie Yeo (born 1868)
– Frederick Charles Yeo
– Elizabeth Jane Yeo (1871–1871)
– Emily Yeo (born 1872)
– Nelley Yeo (born 1875) [note 6]
– Laura Ann Yeo (born 1876)
– John Palmer Yeo (1885–1965).
John Palmer Yeo’s wife Mary Ann died in 1877. In 1883 he married Elizabeth Jane Nickells; no children are recorded from this marriage. After John’s death, Elizabeth married Edward Sydney Rowe in 1919 – she lived until 1934.
Richard Palmer Yeo (1845–1934, son of Richard Yeo and Jane Marshall) was baptised at Lanivet. He moved to London, where he married Ellen Elizabeth Thompson at the parish church of the Holy Trinity, Lambeth in 1867. They had six children:
– William George Yeo (1869–1941, married Nellie Hardy)
– Alfred Edward Yeo (1870–1922, married Emma Maude Smith)
– Florence Yeo (born 1872 in Devon)
– Jane Yeo (born 1877 in Essex)
– Percy Yeo (born 1881 in Northamptonshire)
– Mabel Evelyn Yeo (1886–1936, married Arthur Cecil Fear and William Blount).
The 1881 census records Richard and Ellen in Brigstock, Northamptonshire [note 7]. Ellen died in 1888 and Richard re-married the following year. He had four children with his second wife Lucy Celia Jenkins [note 8]:
– Agnes Elsie Yeo (born 1890 in Cornwall)
– Violet Kathleen Yeo (born 1891 in Leicestershire)
– Annie Emily Yeo (born 1894 in Shropshire)
– Richard Alexander Yeo (1895–1970).
Richard Palmer Yeo died at Meole Brace in Shropshire.
William Henry Yeo (1851–1924, son of Richard Yeo and Jane Marshall) married Esther Tregoning Keast at the parish church of St Petroc, Bodmin in 1874 [note 9]. They had three children [note 10]:
– Sidney Yeo (1875–1875)
– Bessie Madeleine Yeo (born 1876, married William Henry Hambley) [note 11]
– Mabel Annie Yeo (1876–1876).
Thomas Yeo (1854–1917, son of Richard Yeo and Jane Marshall) married Caroline Loveday Hore in 1882. They had two daughters [note 12]:
– Mary Jane Yeo (1884–1896, known as Polly)
– Florence Alice Yeo (1888–1968, married Joseph Hicks Spear 1915).
Charley Yeo (1858–1931, son of Richard Yeo and Jane Marshall) married Grace Pooley in 1897 at the parish church at Helston. They had two children:
– Charley Yeo (1898–1968, married Florence Harriet Broad 1916)
– Grace May Yeo (1900–1968).

Notes
1. The details of Sheila’s pedigree require further research, including Richard’s date and place of baptism, and the names of his parents. His 1837 marriage certificate records his father as John Yeo and his age as 25, but this gives no obvious match to a baptism record.
2. Baptised 1818 at Bodmin. Was Jane Marshall really the mother of two sons who were given Palmer as a second forename? Or might Palmer have been from Richard’s mother’s surname?
3. The birth registration records for these children (Bodmin and Redruth) have been supplemented by reference to baptism records (Bodmin) and census records (1871 census Illogan, 1881 census Tuckingmill).
4. Birth registered as Mary Ann Yeo.
5. Birth registered as Sarah Jane Yeo.
6. Did Nelley marry in Plymouth in 1926?
7. They are living at 77 Lynden Road. 35-year-old Richard is working as a ‘hunterman’, his wife Ellen is 33 and they have three children: William (age 12), Albert (age 10) and an as yet unnamed one-month old son (presumably Percy).
8. The 1901 census records Richard as a visitor in the household of Frances C. Palmer at Meole Brace, Shropshire, without his wife Lucy but accompanied by his children Mabel, Agnes, Violet and Richard. See also Richard Yeo, ostler.

12. The 1891 census for Bodmin records 36-year-old Thomas Yeo as a dealer in horses – listed with him are 33-year-old wife Caroline L. Yeo, his children Polly (age 9) and Alice (3), his brother Charles Yeo (32) and servant Martin Richards, who was most likely helping Thomas with his business.
