Able Seaman Richard Yeo Brooks died at the Battle of Jutland on 12 May 1916. He was on board the cruiser HMS Indefatigable, which sank with the loss of more than a thousand lives.
Richard had been born in Plymouth in 1885 to parents Richard Brooks and Emma Beer. His grandparents Richard Yeo Brooks and Jemima Bart had married at Plymstock in 1848.
