Noel Austin Yeo was born in 1909, the elder of two sons of William James Yeo and Katherine Phoebe Austin, who lived at Beckenham in Kent.
Noel married Margaret Swanson at Beckenham in 1940 but his service with the Royal West Kent Regiment soon took him to Italy; he was captured and spent several years as a prisoner of war at Weinsburg in southern Germany. He died in 1995.
