The register for the parish church of St Anne, Worksop records the baptism on 8 May 1953 of 30-year-old Muriel Yaw of 50 Norfolk Street. The entry is marked ADULT in the left-hand margin and Muriel’s date of birth is given as 9 January 1923.
It did sometimes happen that someone who had not been baptised as a child and wanted to marry in a church had to go through a baptism ceremony first, but there is no record of Muriel marrying at Worksop or anywhere else. There is no contemporary record of her birth in 1923, and no record when and where she might have died.
