Richard Piper Yeo – artist and photographer

Richard Piper Yeo was baptised at St Andrew, Plymouth on 8 February 1813. His father Richard Yeo is shown in the baptism record as a merchant’s clerk and his mother is recorded as Mary.

Richard Piper Yeo’s wife Harriet was from the Isle of Wight but there appears to be no record of their marriage – perhaps it was a nonconformist ceremony? The 1851 census records them in Lewes, Sussex.

Richard trained as an artist and specialised in miniature portraits, but later became a photographer, with premises at 89 Union Street, Devonport. He lived until 1899.
