Bartholomew Yeo was baptised at Swimbridge in 1674 to parents Roger Yeo and Grace Gould. He married Margaret Ackland at the parish church of St Peter, Barnstaple in 1700; they baptised two children at Swimbridge:
– John Yeo (see below)
– Grace Yeo (1704–1709).
Margaret died in 1706; Bartholomew re-married at Landkey in 1707. With his second wife Margaret Slade he had ten children, who were all baptised at Swimbridge:
– Roger Yeo
– Margaret Yeo (baptised 1711)
– Jane Yeo (baptised 1713, married John Eastman)
– Michael Yeo (1716–1755)
– Bartholomew Yeo (1719–1808, married Margaret Shapland)
– Mary Yeo (baptised 1721)
– Elizabeth Yeo (baptised 1724)
– Thomas Yeo (baptised 1728)
– Grace Yeo (1731–1731)
– Grace Yeo (baptised 1735).
John Yeo (baptised 1701 at Swimbridge [note 1], son of Bartholomew Yeo and Margaret Ackland) married Joan Delney [note 2] at Swimbridge in 1727. They baptised four children at Swimbridge:
– Izitt Yeo (baptised 1728)
– Richard Yeo (baptised 1734)
– Honour Yeo (baptised 1738)
– Thomas Yeo (see below).
Thomas Yeo (1741–1831, son of John Yeo and Joan Delney) married Mary Westacott at Swimbridge in 1768. They baptised six children at Swimbridge:
– James Yeo (1772–1830, died in the United States)
– Frances Yeo (baptised 1777)
– Thomas Yeo (baptised 1784)
– Elizabeth Yeo (baptised 1788)
– Mary Yeo (1790–1793)
– Mary Yeo (baptised 1794)
followed by two daughters at Bishop’s Tawton:
– Isott Yeo (baptised 1797, married James Crouch at Swimbridge in 1831 [note 3])
– Jenny Yeo (1797–1802)

Notes
1. John was later minister of the parish church at Swimbridge. His cousin John Yeo was baptised at Swimbridge in 1703 to parents Samuel Yeo and Susanna Laney. Of these two John Yeos, one married Joan Delney at Swimbridge in 1727 and the other married Elizabeth Slowley at Swimbridge in 1730. We cannot be sure which John Yeo married Elizabeth and which married Joan – but as John and Elizabeth named their first son Samuel it is more likely that the pedigree was as indicated above. Other researchers may disagree.
2. Surname also recorded as Dolmy and Dolby.
3. James and Isott appear to have emigrated to Canada. Can anyone confirm this?
