Francis Yeo was born in Guernsey in 1845 to parents William Joseph Spry Yeo and Elizabeth Nicholson, who had married at Stoke Damerel in 1840. William appears to have been a direct descendant of John Yeo and Frances Holman of Launcells, but this needs to be confirmed.
Francis had three older brothers, also born in Guernsey:

– John Thomas Yeo, 1841
– George Henry Yeo, 1843
Francis later had a sister Elizabeth Sophie Yeo, whose birth was registered at Shoreditch in 1860, suggesting that the family had moved from Guernsey to London.
