Trooper Frederick Charles Yeo of the Gloucestershire Regiment died on 24 June 1944 during the Normandy invasion. He appears to have been on board a ship that struck a mine and sank before reaching land.
Frederick was the younger of two sons of Charles Alfred James Yeo and Agnes Maria Pond, whose marriage was registered at Bethnal Green in 1909. He was born in 1917 and had married Dorothy Marie Barton in 1942 (there is no record of any children from this marriage).
Frederick is buried in the military cemetery at Calvados and is commemorated on the war memorial at Bayeux.
