In 1941, The London Gazette [note 1] announced the appointment of Roland Yeo as Chief Clerk on the staff of the War Office in Malta. Eight years later, Roland is recorded in the passenger list for the SS Moreton Bay, which left Southampton on 26 August 1949 [note 2]. Roland is described as a civil servant, and his last UK address is given as 71 Victoria Road, Bude, Cornwall. With him are his wife Madge and daughter Lilian [note 3]. Their destination is Malta.
Roland had been born in south Wales in 1886, the youngest of four children of Samuel Yeo and Elizabeth Palk. He marred Madge Wheeler Bartlett in Malta in 1916, and died in Surrey in 1963.
