The 1871 census also lists William in Bow Street, Langport [note 3] with his children Alfred (age 19, an accountant), Vincent W. (15, apprenticed to a cordwainer) and William J. (11). His 26-year-old son Samuel, a grocer and wine merchant, is living nearby with his wife Georgina.

Notes
1. William’s baptism record names his parents as William and Sarah Atyeo. Their marriage has not been found, so Sarah’s birth surname is unknown. Finding this information might reveal a link to other Atyeo lines in Somerset.
2. William’s occupation is recorded as ‘mason tea dealer & grocer’.
3. William’s wife is recorded as Elizabeth, but this might be an error as no record of Sarah’s death has been found.
