Thomas Yeo (c1781–1839) [note 1] married Elizabeth Shapland at the parish church of St Peter, Barnstaple in 1822. The parish register records Thomas as a bachelor of the neighbouring parish of Pilton.
Elizabeth died in 1825 and was buried at Pilton. Thomas re-married at Bideford in 1829 – little is known about his second wife Sally Bale [note 2]. Thomas died in 1839 and was buried at Pilton; his burial record shows him as ‘of Barnstaple’ and gives his age as 58.

Notes
1. We are trying to identify Thomas’s parents and whether there is a line of descent from him. Some researchers show Thomas and Elizabeth as the parents of mariner John Yeo, but there is little evidence.
2. We do not know when Sally Yeo died or whether she re-married.
