The passenger list for the liner Rhodesia Castle, which arrived in London on 19 September 1953, includes married couple Jack and Ruby Yeo, who had travelled from South Africa. Jack is a 42-year-old motor mechanic and Ruby is a 43-year-old housewife [note 1].
It appears that they had not been in South Africa for long, as their son had been born in Devon in 1938 and the passenger list gives their UK address as a property in East Budleigh.
Jack Yeo (1911–1974) was the youngest of three sons of Isaac Yeo and Alice Dennis. He married Ruby Clift in 1936. The 1939 Register lists them at 45 Priory Road the Polsloe area of Exeter, with Jack’s occupation recorded as automobile engineer.
