Henry Yewes was born in Bristol in 1891, an illegitimate son of Mary Ann Yewes (1872–1955), and was known as Harry.
After his mother married Frederick Arthur Peachey in 1893, Harry took the surname Peachey. His death in 1916 at the first Battle of the Somme is recorded under the name Harry Peachey and his regiment as the 1st Battalion of the Lancashire Fusiliers. Harry is commemorated on the war memorial at Thiepval.
