Leonard Yeo of Huish (1568–1614) was baptised at Hatherleigh, the eldest son of George Yeo and Elizabeth Smith of Fishleigh, Hatherleigh. This account of his family is based on the Visitations pedigrees. See also The Yeo Family by Yve McLaughlin.
At Huish in 1596, Leonard married Sarah Fortescue, daughter of High Fortescue of Weare Giffard. They had nine children, including:
– George Yeo (see below)
– Elizabeth Yeo (baptised 1603, married John Kestell).
George Yeo of Huish (1597–1672) married Elizabeth Bassett at Heanton Punchardon in 1621. They had ten children, including:
– John Yeo (1614–1657)
– Elizabeth Yeo (baptised 1622, see Paul Yeo and Elizabeth Yeo)
– Leonard Yeo (see below)
– Sarah Yeo (1628–1656, married Richard Gervais).
Leonard Yeo of Collaton, Newton Ferrers (1624–1687) married Joan Giffard, daughter of Colonel John Giffard of Brightley, Chittlehampton. They had eight children, including:
– George Yeo (1653–1714, married Gertrude Coffin, six children)
– Robert Yeo (baptised 1657 at Huish, married Mary Nichols, no recorded children).
