According to research carried out by Humphrey Toms and Reg Walter in 1968, William Yeo, a grandson of of Hugh Yeo of Fairlinch, Braunton, married Margaret Smyth at the parish church of St Peter, Barnstaple in 1575. They had thirteen children, including:
– John Yeo (1575–1622, married Alse Howe, one son)
– Philip Yeo (1577–1609, married Johane Mayne, no children recorded)
– William Yeo (see below).
William Yeo, son of William and Margaret, was baptised at St Peter, Barnstaple in 1578. He married Mary Deyman in the same church in 1607 and their five children were baptised there between 1608 and 1615. Mary apparently married into the Burgoyne family after William’s death in 1547, although a record of the marriage has not been found.
