The 1871 census records 48-year-old Richard W. Yeo in Plaistow Lane, West Ham. His birthplace is shown as Lambeth, but his occupation is not easy to read – he appears to be a clerk at a debtors’ court [note 1]. Listed with Richard are his wife Mary Ann Yeo (age 38, born in Lambeth) and three children, whose birthplace is given as Westminster: Richard W. Yeo (age 10), Emily A. Yeo (6) and Frederick G. Yeo (3).
Richard William Yeo (1822–1871) was baptised in London to parents Thomas Yeo and Ann Greathurst. He had three children with, but did not marry, Mary Ann Bloodworth [note 2]:
– Richard William Yeo (1861–1931, married Eliza Mary Bailey)
– Emily Alice Yeo (1864–1924, married Henry Aiano)
– Frederick George Yeo (1866–1930).

Notes
1. Richard’s occupation is shown as law clerk on the 1883 marriage certificate of his daughter Emily.
2. c1822–1891, née Bird, married Robert William Bloodworth. Her birth surname was incorrectly recorded as Bloodworth when the births of the three children shown above were registered. Her death was registered as Mary Ann Bloodworth.
