William Yaw and Cateren Michelmore

The marriage of this couple took place at Newton Ferrers on 19 October 1608. They appear to have lived at Halwell, near Totnes as they baptised three children there: Agnes, Elizabeth and William. The parish registers for the period are in a very poor state, and the records of these baptisms are not clear.

Their son William is generally recorded with the surname Yeo – he married Margaret Curson in the Exeter parish of St Petrock in 1642. William lived in Plymouth, where he was Town Clerk from 1647, and is buried in the parish of St Stevens by Saltash. William and Margaret had several children, perhaps as many as ten.
