Elsie May Yeo – artist

Please read About individuals before using any of the information on this page.

The passenger list for the Cunard liner Laconia, which arrived at Liverpool on 15 August 1932 from the United States, includes 31-year-old Elsie Yeo. Her occupation is recorded as an artist and her destination address as ‘Llangyfelad, Bryntford, Swansea’ [note 1].

Elsie May Yeo was born in December 1900 [note 1] in the Landore area of Swansea, the eldest of five children of John Blackmore Yeo and Margaret Rees. We do not have a record of when she had travelled to America.

Elsie left Wales again later in 1932 to travel to Canada on the SS Duchess of York, which left Liverpool on 16 November bound for Montreal. Her occupation is again recorded as an artist and her UK address as ‘143 Llangyfdach Rd, Swansea’ [note 2]. Elsie appears not to have married, and we have no other information about her. It is possible that she died abroad.
