Rebecca Celia Yeo (1838–1923, daughter of James Stephens Yeo and Jane Marshall) was born in Devonport, her birth registered at Stoke Damerel. The 1851 census for Plymouth records her living with her grandmother Grace Marshall and her mother Jane Yeo.
She married Anthony Porter Self in Plymouth in 1860 and emigrated to the United States three years later with him and their two children. Anthony died on board ship, and Rebecca apparently had a difficult life in her newly adopted country. She eventually moved to Salt Lake City – she married William Henry Solomon there in 1869 and was buried there.
