Lulu Holland Yoe was born in Tennessee in 1872 to parents George Perry Yoe and Annie Holland. She married John Caleb Burns in 1893 and had five children.
When Lulu died in West Virginia in 1955 she left a holographic will (a will she had written herself) that was dated but not witnessed. It was however accepted as valid, on the evidence of two people who were familiar with her handwriting, and probate was granted.
