Five servicemen are commemorated in the parish churchyard at the church of St Mary in the village of Hound, close to Southampton Water in Hampshire.
They include Leslie William Yea, whose headstone describes him as an Aircraftman Second Class of the Royal Air Force. It gives the date of his death as 8 December 1941 and his age as 21.
Leslie’s death was not registered in Hampshire, but in Northumberland, which is presumably where he died.
