William Yawe and Elizabeth Godfrey married at Berry Pomeroy near Totnes in 1778. They baptised four children in the same parish:
– Elizabeth Yaw (1779–1816)
– Thomas Yaw (1781–1835)
– William Yaw (baptised 1785)
– Mary Yaw (see below).
William Yaw was buried at Berry Pomeroy in 1820. His wife Elizabeth was buried there in 1836. In each case their surname was recorded in the parish register as Yeo.
Mary Yaw (baptised 1793 at Berry Pomeroy [note 1], daughter of William Yawe and Elizabeth Godfrey) married Thomas Drew at Berry Pomeroy in 1816. The 1851 census records them at Longcombe Cross, to the south of Berry Pomeroy. Thomas is 56 and working as an agricultural labourer; Mary is 55 and they have a son and daughter living with them. Mary died in 1872; Thomas died the following year.
