George Knowlson Yeo was born in Liverpool in 1884 [note 1]. He married Emma Mary Tennant in 1909 [note 2]; they had three sons and a daughter:
– William George Yeo (1910–1941 [note 3], married Monica Mary Holmes)
– Samuel Henry Francis Yeo (1911–2007, married Mabel Caroline Buckley)
– Wilfred Yeo (1914–2015)
– Mary Yeo (1920–2009, married Thomas Herbert George Foulger).
George was from a family with origins in north Devon, and was descended from William Yeo and Frances Cliffe of Merton. His second forename came from his grandmother Mary Ann Knowlson, and his parents were George Henry Yeo and Elizabeth Emma Taylor. George worked as an officer for the Board of Trade and later as a manger for the Minstry of Labour; he died in 1955 the age of 71 [note 4] .
