Finding a pedigree

There is more than one way to find a family or an individual in one of the 793 researched pedigrees on this site.

If you know the title of the pedigree, you can navigate through the drop-down sub-menus under the main headings ‘Families’, ‘Individuals’ and ‘Pedigrees and research’. The sequence of these menus is strictly alphabetical and you will be able to find it. There is an alternative method: taking the family of John Yeo and Elizabeth Fortescue as an example, Fortescue is an uncommon surname, so going to the Index and entering ‘Fortescue’ (or just part of it) in the Surname filter might be quicker than navigating through the menu system.

Many families are listed within a pedigree, so do they not appear as its heading or in in the menu. Here, the only route is via the Index. So, to find the family of Joseph Yeo and Elizabeth Finch, go to the Index and enter ‘Finch’ (partly or in full) in the Surname filter or. To find the family of Richard James Garfield Yeo, enter ‘Garfield’ (partly or in full) in the Forename(s) filter.
