Alfred Howe and Elizabeth Yeo married at Swimbridge in 1829. The parish register shows that they married by banns – Alfred was recorded as a sojourner and Elizabeth was from Swimbridge. Elizabeth would have been over 21 as there is no reference to parental consent in the record, suggesting she was born in or before 1808 [note 1].
The marriage was witnessed by Roger Yeo [note 2] and Betsy Yeo.
The 1851 census lists an Elizabeth Howe in Swimbridge, a 49-year-old widow with two teenage children. Might that be her?

Notes
1. Can anyone identify Elizabeth’s parents? The nearest matching baptism is at Swimbridge in 1805 to parents Samuel and Mary Yeo.
2. Possibly the Roger Yeo who married Maria Pinsent in 1814 and emigrated to Australia in 1839.
