Jonathan Yaw and Mary Wildor

The marriage of this couple in 1746 is recorded in the registers of Fleet Prison in London: ‘Jno. Yaw Mariner of Woolwich in Kent B. [bachelor] & Mary Wildor widow’.

It is unlikely that there was a connection to the prison. This would have been an ‘irregular’ or clandestine marriage, conducted away from the home parishes of the couple and without any formalities such as reading of banns.
