John (1806–1869) had a direct line of descent from John Yeo and Rebecca Rolle, through families at Hatherleigh, Merton and South Tawton. He was baptised at Stoke Damerel but moved to London, where he married Emma Allamby at Christ Church, Spitalfields in 1841.
John and Emma had five children:
– John Thomas Yeo
– Edwin Robert Yeo
– Emma Sophia Yeo (1845–1917, married William James Maxey)
– Mary Ann Yeo (born 1847)
– Hannah Yeo (1848–1849).
John’s wife Emma died in 1849 and he married for a second time, at St Mary, Newington in 1853 to a widow, Maria Evans. The 1861 census records them at 12 Lapon Street, Bermondsey with Maria’s son George Evans and John’s children Edward Yeo and Mary Ann Yeo.
