William Yeo and Adeliza Galifant

William Yeo (1775–1856, a great grandson of Daniel Yeo and Barbara Easton) was baptised in the Wiltshire parish of Wootton Bassett. He moved to London and married Adeliza Galifant [note 1] at the parish church of All Saints, West Ham in 1805. They had nine children:
– Ann Eliza Yeo (1807–1863)
– William Yeo (baptised 1809)
– Shadrach Yeo (1813–1852)
– John Yeo (baptised 1815)
– Henry Yeo (see below)
– Harriet Yeo (1817–1821)
– Elizabeth Yeo (baptised 1822)
– Charles Yeo (see below)
– Maria Yeo (baptised 1825).
The 1851 census for Plaistow records William and Adeliza living there with five adult children: William is 75 and his occupation is given as ‘marshman’. He died at Plaistow five years later.

Henry Yeo (1816–1880, son of William Yeo and Adeliza Galifant), married Susanna Parker. They had six children:
– Henry William Yeo (1852–1923)
– Susannah Yeo (born 1854)
– Unnamed son (1858–1858)
– Adeliza Yeo ( 1860–1863)
– Richard Yeo (see below)
– Emma Yeo (1864–1946, married George Sidney Johnson) [note 3].

Charles Yeo (1823–1870, son of William Yeo and Adeliza Galifant) married Elizabeth Bateman Sheriff [note 2] at the parish church of St Mary Magdalene, Woolwich in 1854. They had three children:
– Charles Yeo (1859–1930, emigrated to Queensland, married Esther Sin Won, seven children)
George Frederick Yeo
– Frederick Yeo (see below).

Richard Yeo (1863–1921, son of Henry Yeo and Susanna Parker) married Ellen Balls in 1889. They had four children:
– Ethel Yeo (1890–1975, married Thomas Dipple)
– Frederick Yeo (1892–1978)
– William Harry Yeo (born 1895)
– Edith Mary Yeo (1899–1919).

Frederick Yeo (1863–1945, son of Charles Yeo and Elizabeth Bateman Sheriff) married Mary Catherine Warby. They had four children:
– Frederick George Yeo (1893–1916) [note 4]
– Lillie Katherine Yeo (1894–1969, married Leonard Baker)
– Charles Ernest Yeo (1907–1944) [note 5]
– Laurence John Yeo (1914–1971, married Daisy Winifred Lane).

Notes
1. 1784–1865, baptised at the parish church of St Andrew, Halstead. Forename sometimes spelt Adaliza.
2. Surname also recorded as Sherriff.
3. Although they had four sons between 1893 and 1907, and the 1911 census – completed by the householder – stated that George and Emma had been married for 19 years, they did not marry until 1923 (at Woolwich Register Office). No record of Emma’s death has been found.
