Lawrence Yeo (1840–1908) was born at Kilkhampton in 1840. He emigrated to Prince Edward Island as a child with his parents Thomas Yeo and Elizabeth Ann Hockridge, and in 1863 he married Margaret Jane Harkness there [note 1].
The 1891 census for the township of Prince records Lawrence and Margaret with six children but some of the information appears to be inaccurate (for example, Herbert, Emily, Susan and Ada are recorded as having born in England).
Lawrence and Margaret had 12 children, who were born in Prince Edward Island:
– William Thomas Yeo (see William Thomas Yeo and Katherine Maude Arbing)
– Laura Isabella Yeo (1864–1881)
– Catherine Louisa Yeo (1865–1959, twin sister of Laura Isabella, married William Henry Nisbet)
– Margaret Jane Yeo (1868–1941, married Silas Lewis)
– Herbert Yeo (1871–1947, married Nettie Jane Nisbet, seven children [note 2])
– Elizabeth Yeo (1872–1906, married James Murray)
– Cornelius James Yeo (1874–1881)
– Daniel Yeo (1876–1880)
– Minnie Mae Yeo (1878–1880)
– Emily Yeo (1880–1967, married Hartley Lewis)
– Susan Jane Yeo (1885–1964, married George Edward Bush)
– Ada Maude Yeo (1885–1968, married William Mariner in Maine in 1906).
