Sheila Yeo researched this family with a correspondent in 2005. She was sent a detailed pedigree by Julian Yeo in 2008 and received several family photographs from John Pyne.
Isaac Yeo, son of Thomas Yeo and Thomasin Gale, was baptised at Inwardleigh in 1766. He married Elizabeth Upright at the parish church in Sampford Courtenay in 1789; they baptised ten children at Sampford Courtenay:

– Thomasine Yeo (1791–1867, married John Treble at St Paul, Exeter in 1827, died in Liverpool) [note 1]
– Isaac Yeo (see below)
– Elizabeth Yeo (1797–1877, married Robert Mugridge at Sampford Courtenay in 1824, died at Belstone)
– Grace Yeo (1799–1892, married John Gowman at St Andrew, Plymouth in 1824) [note 2]
– Mary Yeo (1800–1885, married Simon Mugridge at St Thomas, Exeter in 1828)
– Martha Yeo (1802–1870, married Henry Stennett at Bathwick, Somerset in 1830, died in Ontario) [note 3]

– John Yeo (see below)
– Maria Yeo (1812–1891, married John Linton in 1832 and Samuel Cork in 1874) [note 4].
William Yeo (1789–1870, son of Isaac Yeo and Elizabeth Upright) moved to Plymouth and married Elizabeth Rickard at Stoke Damerel in 1818. They appear not to have had any children [note 5]; Elizabeth died in 1846. William later emigrated to live with his sister Martha Stennett in Keswick, Ontario and is buried there with her. Their headstone has the spelling Yoe for the family surname.
Isaac Yeo (1795–1871, son of Isaac Yeo and Elizabeth Upright) married Ann Harvey [note 6]. They had ten children:

Thomas Yeo (1805–1873, son of Isaac Yeo and Elizabeth Upright) married twice. His first marriage was to Elizabeth Squires at Stoke Damerel in 1835 – no children are recorded from this marriage [note 7]. Thomas then married Charlotte White in 1838 at the parish church of St Mary Steps, Exeter [note 8]. Their four children were born at Stoke Canon:

– John White Yeo (1847–1849).
Thomas and Charlotte are recorded at Yeo’s Cottages, Stoke Canon in the 1871 census. Thomas is a 66-year-old builder, his wife Charlotte is 57 and lodger Margaret Bowater (age 74, birthplace Brentwood, Essex) is listed with them.
John Yeo (1807–1877, son of Isaac Yeo and Elizabeth Upright) married Mary Banbury at Kingsteignton in 1835. They settled in Sampford Courtenay, where John worked as a shopkeeper and sub-postmaster, and had five children there before Mary’s death in 1844:

– John Yeo (1840–1905, moved to Liverpool, married Martha Ann Wood, daughter Selina Yeo, 1879–1975, married Thomas Molyneau Cookson)

John re-married; he and his second wife Mary Brealy had one son:
– William Yeo (1847–1856).
After his second wife’s death, John married again in 1872. There were no children from this marriage at Sampford Courtenay to Mary Ann Crocker.
Thomas Isaac Yeo (born 1840, son of Thomas Yeo and Charlotte White) married Sarah Cohen in London in 1868. They had five children:
– Frances Kate Yeo (born 1868, married Solomon Benjamin Blanck) [note 9]
– Thomas Isaac Coxman Yeo (1870–1871)
– Charlotte Sarah Yeo (born 1872)
– Cecilia Pauline Yeo (born 1875)
– Louise Rebecca Yeo (born 1878).
Isaac Yeo (1842–1924, son of John Yeo and Mary Banbury) lived after his mother’s death with his uncle Isaac Yeo in Weston Super Mare, where he married Harriet Palmer in 1868. They had six children in Somerset:
– Isaac George Yeo (see below)
– Ellen Harriet Selina Yeo (1870–1884)
– Florence Kate Yeo (1872–1897, married Thomas James)
– Henry Walter Yeo (1873–1882)
– Emily Beatrice Yeo (born 1876, appears to have died as a child)
– John Courtenay Yeo (1878–1953, married Nellie Florence Dubin) [note 10]
before emigrating to Manitoba, where three further children were born:
– William Walter Yeo (1882–1951, returned to England, married Gladys Venn)
– Alice Nellie Yeo (1884–1975, returned to England, married Robert Scutt, died in Canada)
– Amy Beatrice Yeo (1887–1986, returned to England, married Francis George Lloyd).
Isaac and Harriet, who lived in Winnipeg where Isaac worked as a carpenter, later returned to live in Weston-super-Mare.
William Yeo (born 1843 at Stoke Canon, son of Thomas Yeo and Charlotte White) married Katie Perkins at St Mary, Wolborough in 1867. They had two children:
– Frank Henry Yeo (born 1868)
– Lois Kate Yeo (born 1870).
William and Katie appear to have emigrated with their children to the United States. Lois married Thomas William O’Connor in Illinois in 1897. Frank appears to have died in New Jersey in 1955.
Isaac George Yeo (1869–1914, son of Isaac Yeo and Harriet Palmer) became a tailor and married Bessie Every. They had nine children in Somerset but also spent a short time in south Wales, where their daughter Olive Nellie Yeo was born. Their children included:
– Sydney George Yeo (1902–1977, married Gwen Morris, four children)
– Olive Nellie Yeo (1902–1969, married William Atherton and emigrated to Canada)
– Herbert Henry Yeo (1911–1979, married Vera Hayman and had two children).

Notes
1. The bride is recorded as ‘Thomasin Yeo of the precinct of Bradninch’. The groom’s surname is recorded as Trebel.
2. The 1881 census for Gloucester records Grace as an 82-year-old widow.
3. Martha’s surname is recorded as Yoe on her headstone in Mann Cemetery. Her death certificate inaccurately records her as a spinster.
4. The 1871 census records John and Maria in Weston-super-Mare; John died the following year.

6. Married at St Austell in 1820. Was this Isaac’s second marriage? Sheila Yeo and other researchers have incorrectly recorded more children than the ten shown (following the family is complicated by their moves from St Austell to Plymouth and later to Totnes). Ann has also been confused with the Ann Harvey who married William Yeo in 1867.
7. Elizabeth appears to have died between 1835 and 1838, but no record of her death or burial has been found.
8. Charlotte is recorded with Thomas at Stoke Canon in the 1861 census, but no record of her death or re-marriage has been found.
9. Married in 1894. Name of groom requires confirmation.
10. John emigrated to Canada soon after his marriage in 1920. It is not known how long he and Nellie stayed there, but they returned to England and lived at Weston-super-Mare.
