William Yeo and Mary Freeman married by licence at Bridgwater in 1807. Their family has been researched by David Yaw and Jennifer Kevern.
William, who later worked as hat maker, was originally from South Tawton. He was baptised there in 1759, the fourth of six children of Robert Yeo and Jane Hurchill. William and Mary had children William, Robert, James and Jane Yeo, who died young and were buried at Pawlett between 1808 and 1812. They later baptised three children at Bridgwater:
– George Yeo (see below)
– Maria Yeo (1816–1898, married Charles Billing)
– Mary Ann Yeo (1822–1830).
William died in 1824 and was buried at Bridgwater [note 1].
George Yeo (1813–1871, son of William Yeo and Mary Freeman) married Hannah Pearce [note 2]. They had six children:
– Elizabeth Yeo (born 1840)
– William Yeo (born 1842)
– Walter Herbert Yeo
– Mary Yeo (born 1848)
– Francis Yeo (born 1849)
– Samuel Yeo.

Notes
1. The following year, Mary married Thomas Vearncombe; she died in 1860 at the age of 66. This age at death gives a close match to the Presbyterian baptism at Bridgwater in 1785 of Mary, daughter of Henry and Dorothy Freeman.
2. Surname also recorded as Pierce.
