Alfred James Yeo (1894–1958, son of James Yeo and Ellen Bryant) served in the 6th (City of London) Battalion of the London Regiment [note 1] during the First World War.
Alfred married Gwladus Jane Harries in Essex in 1924, at a Primitive Methodist ceremony [note 2]. But they also appeared to marry in Glamorganshire the following year [note 3]. Can anyone shed light on these apparently conflicting marriage records? Was the first marriage invalid as a registrar did not attend?
Alfred and Gwladus had two daughters:
– Valerie Ann Yeo (1934–2012, married Bernard Keith Browning in 1955)
– Marilyn Yeo (1938–1938).

Notes
1. Alfred’s service record shows his rank as sergeant in January 1917 and that he was deployed in a rifle battalion. By August 1918 he had been promoted to second lieutenant. It is not known where he served or when he was discharged.

3. Marriage registered at Pontypridd in the third quarter of 1925.
