A puzzle from Polperro

Kevin Ross has kindly drawn our attention to the 1891 census for Stoke Damerel [RG12/1740/93/34], which records Frederick Yeo at 20 Duke Street with his wife Jane and five children. Frederick’s line can be traced back to Robert Yeo and Margaret Brown, who married at Merton in 1688 and were his great x4 grandparents.

At the foot of the same census page, living at 20 Duke Street, is an apparently unrelated John Yeo (a 51-year-old mason born in Polperro) with his wife Eliza Yeo (49, born in Truro) and his brother William Yeo (42, a carpenter, also born in Polperro). No-one else is recorded in the household.

Can anyone identify John and William’s roots? Before 1875, the coastal village of Polperro was partly in the parish of Lansallos and partly in the parish of Talland. It was in the Liskeard registration district.
