This couple married in Hampshire in 1911, at the parish church in Hound, close to Southampton Water. William was a bachelor, son of labourer William Henry Yea [note 1], and his residence is recorded as the Royal Victoria Hospital [note 2]. Edith was a spinster, daughter of gardener Edward Plaw.
William and Edith had six children:
– Dorothy Elizabeth Kathleen Yea (1913–2001)
– Beatrice Olive Yea (born 1914, married Tom White – no further information known; did this couple emigrate?)
– Leslie William Yea (1919–1941) [note 3]
– Marion Lilian Yea (1925–1926)
– Peter John Yea (1927–2021, married Audrey Irene Feaver)
– Patricia Mary Yea (1928–2015, married Charles Richard Hammond).
William had been born in Co Durham in 1883 [note 4]. The 1939 Register records William and Edith living in Netley [note 5] – they both died in 1952.
