The parish register for Stratton in north Cornwall records the marriage of this couple on 8 September 1785. They were married by banns and were both from Stratton. John signed his name and Elizabeth made her mark.
Several researchers have tried to establish Elizabeth’s line of descent, but without success.
An Elizabeth Yeo, baptised at Stratton on 17 May 1762 to parents John Yeo and Elizabeth Dennis, is of the right age and certainly worth considering. Her grandparents were John Yeo and Grace Payne (married at Stratton 9 December 1739) and her great grandparents were John Yeo and Margaret Gist (married at Stratton 3 February 1717/18).
