James Yeo and Florence Annie Burrows

The passenger list for the SS Benalla, which left London on 6 August 1914 bound for Sydney, includes 31-year-old farmer James Yeo [note 1] and his 26-year-old wife Florence [note 2].

James and Florence had married in 1912 and they were to spend the rest of their lives living and working in New South Wales. James died there in 1965; Florence survived him until 1974.

1. James Yeo was a former soldier whose birth to parents George Yeo and Maria Warren had been registered at Tiverton in 1883 as James Yeo and whose baptism at Upton Pyne in 1885 was recorded as James Yaw. See also page 85 of Descendants of Thomas Yea of Yea, Wiveliscombe.
2. Florence Annie Burrows, birth registered at Tiverton in 1887.
