The 1841 census return for the parish of St Steven, a short distance north of Launceston, records shoemaker Thomas Yeo with his wife Elizabeth and his son Charles – see Thomas Yeo and Elizabeth Mason.
Thomas took on at least one apprentice, as the 1841 census return also lists apprentice shoemaker John Yeo Way – who had been baptised at Werrington in 1822 to parents John Yeo and Mary Way. After this one census appearance, there is no other reference to John, suggesting that his death was registered under a different name or that he emigrated.
