Emma’s parents (both deceased) are recorded as George McKay and Elizabeth Yeo. It is very helpful to researchers that, unlike their equivalents in England and Wales, Australian marriage certificates show not only fathers’ names but also mothers’ names and their original surnames.
George McKay and Elizabeth Yeo had married at Port Adelaide in 1861. Elizabeth had been born in Devon 1842 to parents Isaac Yeo and Elizabeth Frost; she died in 1891.
