This couple married at Tormoham in 1794 and baptised a daughter Susanna the following year [note 1] – she appears to have been their only child.
Susanna married James Beard at St Marychurch in 1819 [note 2]. They had nine children, including:
– Jacob Yea Beard (1822–1823)
– Susanna Yea Beard (1822–1893, married Henry Sherwill and Robert Cleave)
– William Yea Beard (1830–1831).

1. Susanna’s 1795 baptism record from the parish of St Marychurch shows the family’s surname as Yow.
2. The 1861 census records James and Susanna at Ashton, a short distance north of Bovey Tracey, where James is farming 97 acres at Higher Barton. Their married daughter Susanna Cleave and her family are listed with them.
