Maria Yeo (1828–1905) was baptised at Lanteglos (near Fowey, on the south coast of Cornwall) to parents William and Ann Yeo of Carne Hall [note 1].
Maria married James Davey at Ruan Lanihorne in 1851. The 1891 and 1901 censuses record them farming at Trewhiddle, a short distance north of St Austell.

1. William might have been working at Carne Farm at Lanteglos; neither he nor his wife Ann have been identified, and no marriage has been found for them. Sheila Yeo suggested that William was the illegitimate son of Mary Yeo of St Veep, which is clearly incorrect, as William would have been about eleven years old in 1838 and did not marry until 1849.
