George Henry Yeo (1831–1889, son of John Yeo and Mary Ann Saunders) married Mary Ann Knowlson in Devon in 1861 [note 1]. George’s work as a coastguard involved at least two changes of location; he and Mary Ann had eleven children [note 2]. The first three were born on the Isle of Wight:
– George Henry Yeo (1862–1935, married Elizabeth Emma Taylor, five children including George Knowlson Yeo)
John Edward Yeo
– Mary Ann Yeo (1865–1951, married John Saunders Yeo) [note 3]
the next in Plymouth:
– Susan Ann Yeo (1866–1952, married Thomas Whitaker) [note 4]
the next four after they moved to Littleham in south Devon:
– William Charles Yeo (1868–1957, married Maud Annie Gower, two children)
– James Thomas Yeo (1871–1960, married Eleanor Frances O’Brien, two daughters, died in New Zealand)
Eliza Yeo
– Alfred Yeo (1874–1922)
and the final three after they moved to Liverpool:
– Emily Louisa Yeo (1876–1943, married John Highton)
– Charles Arthur Yeo (1878–1934, married Bertha Young, five children)
– Benjamin Edmund Yeo (1879–1924).

Notes
1. Married at the parish church of St Mary, Devonport. Mary Ann was recorded as Mary Ann Jane in the baptism records of two of her children and when her death was registered.
2. As researched by their great x3 granddaughter Clare Bishop.
3. Marriage subject to confirmation.
4. Susan was born in Plymouth in December 1866. Her birth was registered at Stoke Damerel in the first quarter of 1867, with her mother recorded as M.A.J. Yeo of George Street, Exmouth. The 1881 census for Everton inaccurately records Susan’s birthplace as Littleham.
