Reuben Chapman and Annie Yeo

The 1911 census for Withiel – a small village on Bodmin Moor – records 29-year-old rabbit dealer Reuben Chapman living at Retire. Listed with him are his wife Annie Chapman (age 25) and their son Maurice Chapman (age 6 months). Although the census return states that Reuben and Annie have been married for three years, there appears to be no record of their having married.

Annie Yeo had been born at St Blazey in 1885 to parents John Yeo and Emma Bater. She lived until 1949.

John Yeo (1854–1897, son of William Yeo and his first wife Thirza Trick) and Emma Bater married at Exeter Register Office in 1880. Their other seven children were:
– Frank Yeo (see below)
– Charles Yeo (born 1883)
Frederick Charles Yeo
– Emma Jane Yeo (1891–1986)
– Eva Yeo (born 1893, married Frederick John Roberts)
– Elda Yeo (born 1895)
– John Yeo (born 1897).

Frank Yeo (1881–1946, son of John Yeo and Emma Bater) married Ettie Beatrice Harvey. They had three children:
– Cecily Winifred Yeo (1898–1973, married Wilfrid Robert Bryant) [note 1]
– Norah Yeo (born 1907)
– Frank Yeo (1908–1908).
