Notes
1. Charles was the third son of Leonard Yeo and Margaret Kestell née Grylls.
1a. See note 1 to the pedigree for Bartholomew Yeo and Margaret Ackland.
2. Sheila Yeo recorded John marrying Mary Short at Shebbear in 1720. This is incorrect, leaving the marriage unaccounted for.
3. Did William marry Grace Marden at Ideford in 1806?
4. Twins John Yeo and Robert Yeo, buried at South Tawton in 1777, might also have been Robert and Elizabeth’s children. No matching baptism records have been found.
6. Some researchers have confused Jane with the Jane Yeo who married James Redstone at South Tawton in 1814.
7. The year of Agnes’s death requires confirmation.
8. Son John Yeo Heywood (1841–1888, married Selina Perryman).
9. Did Richard and Jane also have a daughter Elizabeth and a son William? See William Towell and Elizabeth Yeo.
10. Some researchers incorrectly show Robert marrying Adelaide Davies. She married Robert Yeo, son of Philip Yeo and Frances Peat, and is listed with him in the 1881 census.
11. James’s second forename was recorded as Pierce when his birth was registered. James and Jane married by licence at the parish church in Bury, Lancashire in 1859. See also The Clergy.
