Marriages – England and Wales

Parish registers are the principal source of information about marriages prior to the introduction of civil registration in 1837. These searchable records start in the 15th Century and continue until the present day; they include Catholic marriages, nonconformist marriages, and marriages at register offices.

To search for records, use the filters at the foot of the table, either individually or in combination, some of which might be filled when the page is opened. Putting a space before or after a filter term can be of help in refining the results. Use Tab and Shift-Tab to move between the filters.

Records less than 75 years old will be hidden from display unless there is evidence that both the parties to the marriage have died – to enquire about one of these hidden records please use the Contact Us page.

Parishes are in the English counties of Cornwall, Devon, Somerset or Wiltshire unless they are in a large city or the county is stated. See also the notes on Parishes with the same name.

Comments in square brackets are not present in the register entries. The records include:
– 19 for which the parish cannot be confirmed or is not known
– 52 for which there is a record of banns or a licence but not of the marriage.
