Woolmer’s Exeter and Plymouth Gazette for 21 March 1838 reported the legal action taken by George Caunter of Ashburton against a tenant of his – an unidentified William Yeo – and newspaper publisher Edward Woolmer. The case was heard at the High Court in London. It failed, and Woolmer was awarded the substantial sum of £40 in damages.
