William Henry Yeo and Mary Ann Hicks

William Henry Yeo (1849–1890) was born in Plymouth, the second of seven children of Isaac Yeo and Elizabeth Webber. He moved to Torquay and married Mary Ann Hicks in 1872. They had four children:
– William John Yeo (born 1872)
– Henry James Yeo (see below)
– Ernest Isaac Yeo (1879–1960, married Bessie Laura Eglington, one daughter)
– Emma Elizabeth Yeo (1882–1951, married William Henry Colmer).

Henry James Yeo (1877–1922, son of William Henry Yeo and Mary Ann Hicks) married Bessie Cox. They had three children [note 1].

– Lillian May Yeo (born 1902)
– Amelia Elizabeth Yeo (1905–1976, married Leonard Humphrys).

1. The 1911 census records Henry Yeo at 5 Pembroke Road, Torquay. He is described as a 36-year-old house painter; listed with him age his wife Bessie Yeo (age 36), his children William Yeo (13), Lily Yeo (9) and Amelia Yeo (7) and parlour maid Florence Harding. The return states that Bessie has been married for 15 years and has had four children, one of whom has died. Florence is recorded as 20 years old and single; no place of birth is given for her. There is no record with the surname Yeo or Cox of the fourth child mentioned in the return.
